What topic pertaining to the Holy Land are you researching?
Authority & Government in the Holy Land
What idea have you found inspiring as you’ve prepared for the abroad and/or prayed for the Middle East?
Something that helped me to prepare for the abroad is the idea of not being impressed of what is happening and the sense of error that tries to take control. We see so much bad on the news that is happening in the area, but we never seem to see the good. I think that it is so important for us to be able to look past all the bad that is going in the area and understand its nothingness; that’s when change can really happen.
What biblical character or site would you want to be or do you feel you are like?
Samuel. I might not be a prophet like he was, but I think Samuel shows a very valuable characteristic early on his life – the ability to just listen – which I think is an incredible characteristic and something that I strive for.
What is the place or activity you are most looking forward to on the abroad?
I am really excited for our homestays with Jordanian families. We got to talk to people that were born and raised in the area as well as people that visited the area and it sounds amazing. Their sense of hospitality and genuine care for others that visit their home is really amazing. The idea of that sheds such a different light on an area that is more known as an area that is really struggling.
