I am a faculty member: Assistant Professor of Languages and Cultures.

If you were a pet or animal, what would you choose?

If I was a pet, I would be a cat. Cats are independent, curious, and explorers. They want to explore the backyards on their own and learn lessons (and perhaps they can feed themselves). I want to explore the world and let the world teach me.

How would you describe yourself?

It is hard to describe myself with words. I like people to get to know me and make their own idea of the person(ality) behind my appearance. But if I have to write something about myself, the following words are a near idea of who I am: generous/compassionate, sympathetic, curious, inquiring, multicultural, happy, humorous, etc.

What piece of advice would you give to yourself before the in-country experience?

My students and I are the reflection of God’s image.

Which country or countries have you visited before?

Beside being from the D. R. of Congo, in the past, personal trips led me to Kenya, Mexico (where I lived for 7 years), Japan, France, Belgium, and Netherlands (for a short period of time).

What has been the most meaningful idea / fact you have discovered or learned about this program so far?

As a first time faculty leading an Abroad program, I have discovered a lot of things about traveling with students. I am looking forward to hearing from students’ experiences, stories, and lessons learned while with host families in Salamanca.

What food are you most excited to try in Spain?

Even though I am vegan, I am excited to try everything, especially the original paella (not those bought in chain stores).

What do you most look forward to during the Spain program?

I am looking forward to the entire experience with students. It will be an opportunity to know them better as well as to strengthen our trust relationships. I am most looking forward to taking students to the Guinness World Record as the oldest restaurant (founded in 1725).

What opportunity do you hope this abroad will bring to you?

I hope to have the opportunity to keep broadening my socio-cultural and intellectual perspectives.
