I’m Wasa Staley from San Luis Obispo County, California, and I am an Education major with a concentration in Theory and Practice. Music is a big part of my life, not only because I like to sing for fun but also as a way to convey emotion. Growing up, my sister and I would constantly break out into song and listen to a variety of music with both of our parents. The music ranges from Beethoven and Mozart to Shania Twain and other Country artists. I believe that music is crucial to society because it allows us to gather and express a variety of emotions towards whatever we may be listening to. Music is used in many aspects of our lives and is what I consider to be a form of communication.
I am so excited to learn more about a style of music that I haven’t explored much. I have always been interested in buildings and architecture, so I am excited to see some of the buildings many of us just see in books. I am looking forward to going to Prague and seeing the Nutcracker, as I have always loved watching ballets and have seen it only once before in person. I am so looking forward to what’s to come, and am excited to get to know everyone in the abroad better.
