What are you most excited to learn and to do while abroad in Scotland & England?
I don’t know if I can pick any one thing I’m most excited to learn and to do, but there are certainly things I am excited to learn and to do, though not in any particular ranking. One thing I am especially excited for is getting to go and watch a Shakespeare play performed in the Globe theatre. I am also excited to learn more about the history of the British Isles as well as to draw and paint some of the various locations there.
If you could travel back in time, where and when would you like to go? and why?
If I could travel back in time, I’d like to go to some of the original performances of Shakespeare’s plays. Mostly because I think it would be really neat to get to see what those early performances are like and how they differ both from the content of the plays that we have today, but also how they were performed versus how we view them today. It would further be interesting to see the live reactions people had to them and their immediate societal impact.
What is your favorite Shakespeare play or character or Shakespeare-inspired film?
One of my favorite Shakespeare plays is Twelfth Night. One of the things I like about it is the twin shenanigans which I find rather entertaining, especially with the story’s chaotic love triangle. Another part I like is the character of Malvolio who is extremely fun to both watch and play.
What is your favorite way to express yourself creatively?
One of my favorite ways to express myself creatively is through musical theater. I love singing in general, but paired with a greater emphasis on acting and story makes it even more fun.
