What are you most excited to learn and to do while abroad in Scotland & England?
I am excited to see the sights in London (the bridge and Big Ben, and other museums there) and I am excited to see the castles in Scotland. I’m also excited to see the Globe Theater where Shakespeare put on his plays!
If you could travel back in time, where and when would you like to go? and why?
I would like to go to France during the revolution and see the palace of Versailles where Marie Antoinette lived. I would also like to meet her. This is so random but for some reason I really want to hear her point of view, because she’s kind of made out to look out of touch and classist, and maybe she was, but I’d like to see her side of the story. Also France is dope and the castle of Versailles is so pretty, I’d love to go to one of their big fêtes and wear a big fancy dress.
What is your favorite Shakespeare play or character or Shakespeare-inspired film?
I have to say 10 Things I Hate About You. Maybe it’s basic but me and that movie go way back. I feel like I have a deep connection to it because I watched it when I was pretty young and I like to rewatch it when I’m bored. It’s one of the reasons I love that my family has Disney Plus. I honestly loved Kat Stratford too, I liked that she was a strong and intelligent female character and her personality definitely shaped parts of mine today. I like that she liked to read and wore cool outfits and liked to dance because I do too. She was in touch with her emotions when she fell for Heath Ledger but also knew her worth and when she deserved better than him! And then he actually stepped up and was honest about his feelings so that was awesome for her!!! Good movie all around. No notes.
What is your favorite way to express yourself creatively?
People don’t usually see sports as creative, but I feel like I express a lot of my creative energy and emotions through playing sports. I see volleyball as a creative outlet. I get very invested and expressive playing it, and I’ve also grown to really enjoy running track. There’s always new things to learn in sports, and in games and races you get to test out those new skills, which I feel like is similar to the creative process: just testing things out.
