What most excites you about India and Nepal?

I’m looking forward to becoming as immersed in the two cultures as much as possible. I love learning about religion, food, social customs, and politics — pretty much anything having to do with government or cultural heritage — so I can’t wait to take part in activities we’re invited to join, observe others, and figure out how best to communicate with people from cultures very different from my own. And the trek! I can’t wait for the trek.

What is important to you?

Christian Science is very central to my life, and branching off of that, I’m really interested in communicating with people who hold different views or practice different traditions. It makes sense to me that anyone in the world should be able to communicate with anyone else since we are all reflections of God, so I’m really looking forward to improving that skill as we interview and get to know people throughout our trip.

How would you spend your time, if money were no object?

Probably striving in my profession without worrying about climbing the ladder to make more money. I would just focus on finding my way into the field of journalism, and reading more on the side. And I’d definitely spend a lot of money on food and traveling.

What do you want to be better at?

Being patient and relaxed. I tend to overthink, and I can get really caught up in that. I’d also like to be able to sight read piano music.
