Week 1   Edinburgh, ScotlandThe UK Study Abroad program begins in Edinburgh during the annual International and Fringe festivals. Each day they will a morning meeting and class time, followed by an activity or excursion including: Edinburgh Castle, Royal Botanic Garden, festival theatre productions, Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, National Museum, Greyfriars Kirkyard, Writer’s Museum, day trip to Culross and Stirling Castle, National Gallery, and a Ceilidh Open House.
Week 2 GrasmereIn the Lake District, the group will continue their meeting and class time followed by workshops at the Wordsworth Trust. They will also hike in the local fells, shop at local markets, and visit Brantwood (Ruskin’s home) and Levens Hall.
Weeks 3-5   LondonIn London, the group will spend the first week doing research for their Shakespeare class and production at the British Library and the second two weeks will be spent with professionals and the Globe Theatre. In between research and workshops at the Globe, they will explore local cultural sites including: British Museum, Fashion and Textile Museum, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Hampton Court, Tate Modern Museum, National Gallery, Victoria and Albert Museum, and more.
Week 6   Cornwall, Wales & Bath  After London, the group will travel to Cornwall, Wales, and Bath to explore natural and cultural sites including: Stonehenge, Minack Theatre, St. Briavels Castle, Tintern Abbey, Chepstow Castle, Bath Fashion Museum, and the Roman Baths.
Week 7   Stratford-upon-AvonThe group will conclude its international travel in Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Here they will meet with professionals and participate in workshops with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and Royal Shakespeare Company.
On-campus   Elsah, ILAfter their in-country travel, the group returns to campus to continue their coursework while also putting together a production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
