My name is Matthew Hagenlocher and I am a junior in college. I am majoring in Business Administration and Economics. I live in Illinois, but grew up in Vermont. I am very excited to explore the island and all of the wonderful experiences it holds. I am also excited to try delicious foods and engage with locals (not the marriage kind of engagement though, no spontaneous elopements from me). I think that the participant’s open-mindedness, engaging with its culture, being active, and eating food 🙂 are most important for understanding a place. This one river that runs under a volunteer fire department in Vermont is the most meaningful place for me. It just reminds me of family, relaxation, and spontaneity because my brother and I used to use it as a lazy river.
