My name is Dana Cadey and I am a senior in College. I am majoring in Mass Communication (Journalism). I am from The Woodlands, Texas. I’m intrigued and excited by the gorgeous natural beauty of the island. I love tropical places, and I know that I will learn so much more about Caribbean ecology and lifestyles by immersing myself in this wonderful place for three weeks. To understand a place, you have to know about the history and contemporary culture of it. Understanding the “why” of where you are makes the place more meaningful and encourages you to pay more attention to your surroundings. One of the most meaningful places to me is Boulder, Colorado. I spent the previous summer there for an internship, and I instantly fell in love with it. I love the small community atmosphere that it maintains, even as a busy college town, and its proximity to the Rockies makes every part of it so scenic. Getting to intern for the local paper there only deepened my connection to both the place and its people.
