My name is Chandler Morehardt. I am from Buena Vista, CO. I’m very excited to be joining this program as the RC to support Stephanie and the students. Having met all of the students recently, I’m most excited about this group – they are incredible! But of course I’m also excited to explore the island of St. Lucia – see new places, connect with the local people, try new foods. I’m hoping to take advantage of being so close to the water to go swimming as often as possible since that’s not something readily available in Colorado – certainly not in January. Being somewhere for an extended period of time is important to understand a place. It sounds like many tourists only pass through St. Lucia on a cruise or for a week but we will be there for nearly a month. I also think having limited access to technology (cell phones and laptops) will force us to connect more with our surroundings. New Zealand is one of the most meaningful places to me. I lived there for 4 years and fell in love with the landscape and the culture. My wife and I have permanent residency there and plan to return often.
