What intrigues/excites you about the Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia & Herzegovina program?
- I am excited for the opportunity to have an immersive cultural experience in a part of the world I have never traveled to before. I love getting to expand my perspective as a global citizen and learn about people who have a different life experience than I do. I’m also looking forward to all of the yummy food!
Where do you most look forward to visiting during our program?
- I am especially looking forward to going to Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia. I love being outdoors, so I am particularly excited for the time that we will get to spend exploring the less populated places we visit.
What has been the most meaningful idea you’ve discovered or learned about the idea of shifting borders so far?
- I think it has been really impactful to me to see how the imaginary borders we draw influence people’s lives, and also how there are many things that extend beyond borders and thrive regardless of the political lines of the time. I think that seeing the way that culture grows and is shared is crucial to being a conscientious individual.
For me, the SloCroBoH Abroad is an opportunity to explore global travel as an adult and learn how to navigate in a foreign country while learning how to contextualize world literature with setting and political environment.
