My name is Alana Tessman, I’m a senior majoring in Environmental Studies with a minor in Sustainability, and I’m from Kernville, CA. When I learned about the Lake District Abroad, I was instantly interested, as the curriculum weaves together conservation, literature, and the history of the land to present a dynamic depiction of a unique landscape that faces pressing challenges. With our ecological understanding of agriculture increasing, the way things have been done within the Lake District has been questioned, with the future of the land being debated by different perspectives. I’m excited to get to know the communities we’ll be visiting and the unique stories of farmers, conservationists, and historians!
