I am majoring in Outdoor and Experiential Education, Religious Studies. I am from New Bern, North Carolina. I&#8217;m really excited about the geographic location, specifically the forests and water. I also find the religious culture of St. Lucia to be interesting since the majority of people are Christian and specifically Catholic. I&#8217;m excited to see how that affects the way people act and think there. I think historical context is one of the most important things to understanding a place. The history tends to impact the current culture and give us a deeper understanding of a place. St. Lucia was colonized by both France and Britain which is likely why Christianity is the dominated religion there. The most meaningful place to me is the Smoky Mountains. It&#8217;s such a beautiful place and has so many memories for me. I went there numerous times growing up and got engaged there last August. I&#8217;m also getting married there.
