A Night at the Theater

Last night, we went to the Narodni Divadlo (National Theater) to see the premiere performance of Beyond Vibrations, a triple bill of dances by distinguished contemporary choreographers and the Czech National Ballet.

From the program: “Bringing to bear modern movement vocabulary, all three pieces seek singular aesthetics, feature distinct creative refinement and profound metaphoric message, yet are also vharacterized by vibrating ‘instruments’ — dancing bodies and sonorous strings. Krzysztof Pastor, Hans van Manen and Marco Hoecke set their vibrant choreographies to the vibrant music of Alfred Schnittke, Henryk Górecki, Benjamin Britten and Gustav Mahler.”

We found our seats on the “balkon vlevo” (balcony to the left) on the 2nd level.

Photos were not allowed during the performance, but here we are in our seats!

After the show, we walked across the street to Café Slavia for dessert. Here is the National Theater, as seen from Café Slavia.

And here we are having dessert and discussing the show.

Ginger tea and Sacher cake abound!
