After a four-day fall break, we returned to classes — Czech literature in the morning and drawing in the afternoon. Later in the day, we had a metaphysical meeting in the men’s apartment followed by time for sharing the trading cards from our second “Prague Is Your Teacher” day.
No one knows why Ben was wearing hi visibility work pants.
A reminder that “Prague Is Your Teacher” is an assignment where each student plans something to do on their own in Prague, like go to a museum or visit a gallery or see a show. The intention is for the students to let Prague be their teacher that day. Part of the assignment asks the students to share their experience with others in the form of an artist trading card. After their “Prague Is Your Teacher” day, each student makes a trading card that describes or tells a story about their day. Students then learn about each other’s day by sharing and collecting their cards.
This week, one student visited the astronomical clock in Old Town Square. Another student visited Franz Kafka’s grave in the New Jewish Cemetery. Others visited the National Museum, the African Museum of Dr. Emila Holub (hint: see the man with the moustache below), St. Vitus cathedral, the “Dancing House,” the Children’s Island, and more.
The next day, we had open time to work on assignments followed by Czech language class with Marketa.
We also celebrated the name day of Kyrstyn’s adopted name, Eliška!
