A Reading, a Recital, and a Name Day

On Friday night, we returned to the Globe Bookstore and Cafe to hear acclaimed journalist and writer Gary Younge read from his latest collection of reportage and journalism, titled, Dispatches from the Diaspora.

Gary Younge is an award-winning author, broadcaster and a professor of sociology at the University of Manchester in England. Formerly a columnist at The Guardian he is an editorial board member of the Nation magazine,  the Alfred Knobler Fellow for Type Media and winner of the 2023 Orwell Prize for Journalism.

After Gary Younge gave his reading, he spoke with Michael March about his career as a journalist and reporter.

On Saturday, we visited Suk’s Hall at the Rudolfinum to hear a piano recital by James Lisney. The program included movements by Franz Liszt, Robert Schuman, and Fryderyk Chopin.

After the recital, we returned to my apartment for a group dessert and to celebrate Nate’s Czech name day — Karel.

Happy name day, Karel!

And — thank you, Dammy, for the second piano recital of the night! Encore!
