On Thursday morning, poet Stephen Delbos visited our class to give a reading of his poems and translations. Delbos is a poet, translator, and lecturer at Charles University. Originally from the United States, Delbos is also the first Poet Laureate of Plymouth, Massachusetts.
After an introduction by Valeria, Delbos read from his books, including Small Talk, Paris Notebook, and Light Reading. He also read a few unpublished poems that he is working on.
In the Q&A session, Delbos answered questions about his writing process, his work as a translator, and how his creative practice is shaped by his movements between the Czech Republic and the United States.
In the afternoon, students returned to the art studio to work on their second large drawing assignment.
