Studio, then more Kafka

The day begins in our art studio at the Meet Factory. Working from sketches in notebooks and images on phones, students compose their section of the Dripstone Wall on paper. Pictured below is the “two-chair” method.

Standing in “tree pose” is another popular method.

After the studio, students break for lunch and meet up at the Kafka Museum in Malá Strana.

Darkly lit and designed to evoke the environments, feelings, and concepts that abound in Kafka’s work (alienation, paradox, bureaucratic control, etc.), the museum offers an immersive history of the early 20th Century Prague in which Kafka was born and the Prague that shaped his vocation as a writer.

After the Kafka Museum, we walk to the Vojan Gardens (Vojanovy sady), the oldest garden in Prague. Here we celebrate Ben’s adopted Czech name day, Matouš!

In Czechia, a person receives small gift from friends and family on their name day. Each of us have adopted a name day for our time in Prague. Happy name day, “Matouš!”

Handstands, then a view of Charles Bridge and the Vltava on the way home.
