What is the most important or powerful thing that the arts have given you?

The arts have given me a voice. I think the most powerful thing about them in general is their potential to share the unheard voices within all of us. I really do feel like I can express myself when I write and draw. Through this voice, I have also begun to understand others’ perspectives and the world around me more.

When does art become art? Does it have to be verified?  Does it have to change something?

Art does not have to be verified to be considered art. The only thing it has to change is an internal thought for an individual. Art is a personal thing. I see things as art when many others do not, and vice versa. Art is completely dependent on context. Through our history as humans and beyond, we are impacted by how we see art. Without such context, art could not exist. Art is not a physical form, it is instead a feeling that we can have through the impact that pieces, creations, or just things may have on us.
