What has been the most meaningful idea you’ve discovered or learned so far in preparation for your study abroad to Nepal?
The most meaningful concept we’ve discussed about Nepal is acknowledging the complexity of the climate crisis. The inequality of the types of people in social structures affected most by these impacts, as well as the difficulty of “trying to solve” or mitigate these impacts.
For me, the Nepal Study Abroad is an opportunity to…get outside my comfort zone to learn about another culture.
What do you want to be better at?
Speaking Nepali and drawing are two skills I hope to improve on this abroad.
How does learning about climate crisis in Nepal shape the way you view, and want to engage with, the world?
One way learning about the climate crisis in Nepal has changed my worldview is the way I might approach problem-solving. In the past, I might have immediately started brainstorming how to address an issue, but learning about how complex the climate crisis is and how to address it in a place like Nepal has made me more aware of the assumptions and biases I carry with me.
