How would you describe yourself?
I would consider myself an artistic and open minded person. I love learning about culture and how it affects peoples lives, particularly how language plays into that.
Which Greek deity to you most identify with and why?
The first that comes to my mind is Apollo because of the musicianship he has!
What do you most look forward to during the Greece program?
I’m looking forward to finding new ways of thinking about the world and people, and reflecting on what we often take for granted about our surroundings. By coming to the United States, I’ve already experienced some of that, but I’m excited to see what different colors of ideas and meanings I’ll learn from the Greek people.
What has been the most meaningful idea/fact you have learned in this program so far?
Similar to another answer, just the sheer amount of angles you can interpret the world around you, and how deeply you can think about things. It’s one thing to know what opinions and views you have, but to investigate the -why- thoroughly gives you an awareness that is much richer than just settling with the -what-, which is often more familiar and comfortable.
At this point in your life, what is important/meaningful to you?
Making meaningful connections and working with people towards a common goal is something I really value. Finding common ground and cherishing what is different and unique about individuals, then mixing those qualities together to form something new, is where I’ve seen the most amazing things come from.
