How would you describe yourself?
I would say I am an outgoing, funny guy who loves to be around friends and family. I love being active (especially when lifting weights) as well as learning new skills and hobbies. I am a hard worker and I consistently try to be the best version of myself every day.
Which Greek deity to you most identify with and why?
At first, I thought I identified with Ares the most, but after doing more research about his qualities and thoughts, I relate to another Greek God more. I believe I relate to Hephaestus (God of fire, blacksmithing, and craftsmanship) the most because of the qualities we both express. For instance, I think we both are known to be resilient, humble, kind, hardworking, strong, and skilled.
What do you most look forward to during the Greece program?
To begin, Greece has been a bucket-list place to visit since I was in 6th grade. Since I love the mythology and Ancient city-states of Greece, I am excited to be in the same area as the Spartans, Athens, and Trojans used to live. In addition, I can’t wait to see the beautiful scenery and ruins that remain today.
What has been the most meaningful idea/fact you have learned in this program so far?
Our instructor, Chris Young, keeps repeating that my classmates and I should not worry about being wrong. So, instead of being afraid to be wrong, saying our ideas or answers is more important to him than being “right.” – That is very meaningful to me, because of my very competitive nature, I always want to be in the right. There are times where I don’t participate or raise my hand because I think I’m wrong. However, with that saying in my mind, I push myself to think in a philosophical mindset and engage more in class.
At this point in your life, what is important/meaningful to you?
I strongly value friendships, family, and good connections. Having great relationships can carry you through good and bad times. I always want to improve when it comes to everything, and surrounding yourself with people that push you to be the best version of yourself is very meaningful. On another note, being active, motivated, competitive, and strong-willed are other qualities that are important to me. I could go on and on about what is important/meaningful to me, but I will leave it at that. I am stoked to go to Greece!
