What has been the most meaningful idea you’ve discovered or learned so far in preparation for your study abroad to Finland?
As a student in 2016, the abroad was ‘for me’. Now, as an RC, I get to support the students in their own journey and facilitate it being ‘for them’.
For me, the Finland Study Abroad is an opportunity to…
1) Return to Finland and get a ’10 years later’ snapshot of a country I got to become acquainted with a decade ago & witness a group of students experience a new part of the world and make their own connections. 2) See if there are any classroom strategies or nuggets I can take for my own practice as an education professional. 3) Get my sauna on
What do you want to be better at?
Scheduling sauna time. Slowing down and prioritizing rest.
How does learning about Finnish education, sustainability, and culture shape the way you view, and want to engage with, the world?
I so value the mindfulness that I understand that Finns have regarding their lives, the world, and their place in it. The mentality of being a responsible citizen and community member, and the relationship many have with the natural world around them. I’m inspired by their authenticity.
