Ziploc bags<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Instructions:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong>Fillthe pothalf full with water. Add a tablespoon\nof the veg. oil to the water and bring it to a boil.&nbsp; Add half of the spaghetti and cook according\nto package directions.&nbsp; When cooked, add\nthe blue food coloring to the water and let the spaghetti soak for a few\nminutes, stirring the pot so the coloring is mixed in evenly.&nbsp; Drain the spaghetti in the colander and rinse\nwith cold water to set the color.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fill the pot halfway again,&nbsp; add another tablespoon of oil and let it come to a boil again.&nbsp; Add the rest of the spaghetti, cooking it according to directions, about 8 minutes.&nbsp; Add the yellow food coloring, stirring it in so it covers evenly.&nbsp; Let the spaghetti sit for a few minutes.&nbsp; Transfer the blue spaghetti to one of the Ziploc bags, seal it, and put it in the refrigerator.&nbsp; Rinse the colander, then drain the yellow batch and rinse with cold water.&nbsp; Put it in the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Ziploc bag.&nbsp; When you\u2019re ready to let your baby play with it, pour the two bags into a plastic container or large bowl.&nbsp; Set out a bath towel and place the container in the middle of it.&nbsp; Set your baby on the towel, too.&nbsp; Show him how you can pick up the strands of spaghetti.&nbsp; Encourage him to do the same.&nbsp; If he chooses to eat some, it\u2019s perfectly safe.&nbsp; We added some plastic gold coins and some blue poker chips to the spaghetti for the baby to discover. &nbsp;She definitely preferred the gold coins!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/content.principia.edu\/sites\/acorn\/files\/2019\/02\/Blue-Gold-Spaghetti-Play-Clara-1-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3252\" srcset=\"https:\/\/content.principia.edu\/sites\/acorn\/files\/2019\/02\/Blue-Gold-Spaghetti-Play-Clara-1-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/content.principia.edu\/sites\/acorn\/files\/2019\/02\/Blue-Gold-Spaghetti-Play-Clara-1-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Materials:&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 1 lb. spaghettiVegetable oilBlue food coloringYellow food coloringLarge potWaterColanderTwo gal.
