National Merit Commendations

Three Upper School students have received honors as 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Students. Seniors Clayton Harper, Jamie Poley, and Brian Ritter are among the approximately 34,000 commended students throughout the country to be recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program based on their scores on the 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

All three of these talented students are focused in their pursuit of academic excellence, while successfully balancing other educational opportunities and interests. Clayton Harper is a thorough, organized, and focused student with an interest in art and design. He has played soccer all four years of Upper School and been a member of the track team for two years. Jamie Poley is a key member of Principia’s soccer and wrestling teams and plays first chair on the French horn in band. He has earned distinction for performances in district and state competitions and plays with the St. Louis Youth Orchestra. Brian Ritter has balanced the demands of a rigorous academic load with a commitment to football, tennis, cross country, and wrestling. He has also traveled to Costa Rica with Principia’s Spanish program. refining his fluency and expanding his cultural awareness.
