Educators around the world have come together to share an abundance of ideas for a successful shift to remote learning. <\/span>The New York Times<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>The Harvard Business Review<\/span><\/a><\/em> and hundreds of other news outlets have begun to focus on this transition.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here at Principia, the CTL has curated an ongoing <\/span>resource page<\/span><\/a> to help with various aspects of this transition to remote learning, from tech support guides, to ideas for staying active as we work from home.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the Principia Pilot<\/em> has been running daily articles about our community\u2019s shift to this new landscape. Articles include <\/span>metaphysical support<\/span><\/a> and assessments of <\/span>student<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>faculty<\/span><\/a> morale. The Pilot<\/em> will continue to monitor various <\/span>policy changes<\/span><\/a> and the impacts they have throughout the remainder of the school year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CTL\u2019s PGTI Sam Engel wrote an article for the Pilot<\/em> about the shift to remote learning. Engel writes the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHow do you complete a chemistry lab from a home kitchen? What about attending a\u00a0<\/span>nude figure drawing class from a shared living room? Is any of this even possible? These are just a few of the many questions faculty, administration, and students are scrambling to answer as Principia College flips to an online-only learning environment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In reality, the question isn\u2019t if these things are possible, but rather how effective lessons\u00a0<\/span>will be once they\u2019re transferred online. In many cases, faculty are left with the difficult job of determining what activities are absolutely essential for meeting course objectives. For everyone, it\u2019s been a massive upheaval of what was once deemed \u201cnormal.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Students are attempting to juggle mixed-up time zones, multiple unfamiliar digital\u00a0<\/span>education platforms, and a blatant disruption to their expensive education. For those\u00a0<\/span>who chose to attend college in-person because they succeed best in a classroom, the\u00a0<\/span>change feels overwhelming and disappointing\u2026\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
