{"id":2613,"date":"2018-09-25T10:15:54","date_gmt":"2018-09-25T16:15:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/content.principia.edu\/teaching-excellence\/?p=2613"},"modified":"2018-11-19T13:51:58","modified_gmt":"2018-11-19T19:51:58","slug":"week-5-check-before-they-check-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/content.principia.edu\/teaching-excellence\/week-5-check-before-they-check-out\/","title":{"rendered":"Check in before they check out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Happy week 5! &nbsp;While chatting with colleagues, an idea occurred to me: this week can be a somewhat tricky time during the semester. &nbsp;The newness and excitement of the semester, affectionately known as the \u201choneymoon phase,\u201d starts to wear off. So how do we continue to engage our students? &nbsp;I find that waiting until midterms to get feedback from my students is too late.
