{"id":1988,"date":"2016-09-20T14:58:32","date_gmt":"2016-09-20T20:58:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/content.principia.edu\/teaching-excellence\/?p=1988"},"modified":"2016-09-20T14:58:32","modified_gmt":"2016-09-20T20:58:32","slug":"bringing-posters-to-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/content.principia.edu\/teaching-excellence\/bringing-posters-to-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Bringing posters to life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wouldn&#8217;t it be nice if the posters your students created could come to life using student created video content? \u00a0Also, wouldn&#8217;t it be great to have students interact more with the posters? \u00a0 It is possible to do this with the help of technology! \u00a0Using a mobile device and the Aurasma app, students can\u00a0bring everyday,\u00a0inanimate\u00a0items\u00a0to life by making them\u00a0interactive. \u00a0 These items, called &#8220;Auras,&#8221; can be any object, image, or place, such as\u00a0artifact from a museum or a building. \u00a0 Check out the video below to see Aurasma in action:<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uZ39-2CQKHM\" width=\"854\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Some application and practical examples of how to encourage Aurasma in classes\u00a0are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Create math problems on piece of paper or even a board. \u00a0These math problems could become the Aura for students to see the solution to the problem and\/or strategies to solve the problem.<\/li>\n<li>Take students to a museum and create Auras\u00a0on museum or gallery artifacts so that the audience has explanations about them on their mobile devices.<\/li>\n<li>Bring marketing products to class and use Auras\u00a0to bring up marketing materials on the products or services of a company.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Overlays (or videos) can also be programmed to have extra actions.
