What is the most important or powerful thing the arts have given you?

The arts have given me a sense of belonging. I have been learning more about the artistic dialogue that transcends the phenomenal world, but also directly pertains to it, which has allowed to engage in a metaphysical discussion with writers and artists. Recognizing such connection within humanity’s shared world of objects has given me a sense of grounding or belonging.

If you were Gregor Samsa in Franz Kafka’s story “The Metamorphosis,” what insect would you turn into? I would turn into either a dragonfly or a fire ant. A dragonfly because they are so ancient and seem so in touch with the earth. I also like the idea of having wings. A fire ant because I believe in hard work, but I also need to be able to defend myself from all the big feet and predators around!
