What are you most looking forward to on this abroad?
I love trying new food when traveling and I know I’ll love the sushi! Also, I really look forward to the homestay. Even though it’s a little scary that we’ll be alone, I am so excited for the opportunity to get a real ground-view look of Japan from within a home.

What metaphysical quote are you taking with you?
“Mind-science teaches us that mortals need “not be weary in well doing.” It dissipates fatigue in doing good. Giving does not impoverish us in the service of our Maker, neither does withholding enrich us.” S&H pg 79:29-32

I love this quote because I really want to focus on giving in Japan. Not only to the other students on the abroad, but also to the professor, the resident counselor, and anyone else we may meet in Japan. I want to bring an unselfish love and joy to the abroad, so instead of trying to see what I’ll get out of it I want to know what I can give to the experience. And with Mary Baker Eddy’s words, I know that this cannot exhaust me, but rather energize me with every act of service.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
I would choose being the “Master of Time and Space” like Hiro Nakamura from Heroes, mostly because he is my favorite Heroes character and Japanese, but also because it would just make life so much more convenient. Also, I wish that when I smile my teeth would sparkle like in cartoons.

What is your favorite ice cream?
Graeter’s Black Raspberry Chip (it’s in Ohio and so worth the drive!)
